** Silvern Castle Updated
Silvern Castle is a popular freeware role-playing game written and
continously updated by Jeff Fink.  The current  update, 7.3, adds the
following:

Major Bugs fixed:
 - Automapping while inside the moat
 - AC Problems with some cursed armour types

Major Changes:
 - Faster combat multi-monster spell displays
 - Faster HP healing display at Red Dragon Inn

** Lost Classics Project Releases

Several programs have recently become available as freeware via The Lost
Classics Project.  They may be found on the Trenco ftp site
(ftp.gno.org) or in the Syndicomm.com file library available to
subscribers.  They are:

--Platinum Paint, a full-featured GS/OS painting program for the Apple
IIGS which allows the user to create and modify images for use on an Apple
II, as well as store them in a variety of formats.   Originally published
by Beagle.Bros and copyrighted by Matt Reimer, this  program has been
released as freeware by the copyright holder.

--GSFont Editor, which allows you to create and modify fonts for use with
an Apple
II, as well as save them in different formats.  It runs under ProDOS and
is useable on 8-bit Apple IIs.  Published and copyrighted by Beagle.Bros,
this program has been released as freeware by the copyright holder, Mark
Simonsen.

--Bag of Tricks 2 is the ProDOS version of this versatile repair program.
Allows you  to save and repair both files and disks.  Originally published
by Quality Software, this program has been released as freeware by the
copyright holders, Don Worth and Pieter Lechner.


*  *  A new file storage option
Rich Dreher has announced that he is nearing completion of a storage
device based on compactflash cards currently used for storing images in
digital cameras.  His design will use one 64 megcard as two 32 meg
devices, using an IDE interface card.  It's been tested for use with an
Apple //e, and should be able to be used on a GS.  It's unknown at this
time if in the future the device will access larger compact flash
cards.  More information can be found on Rich's website

* Sweet16 development halted
Eric Shepherd, the author of Sweet16, the Apple IIGS emulator  has
annouced that due to the demise of the BeOS operating system, no further
development of the emulator is possible.  The current version of Sweet16
can still be downloaded from http://www.sheppyware.net
